Flights
No airport serves San Miguel directly. The closest airport is out of Leon (BJX) which is situated 90 minutes away. There is no direct bus service from Leon and taxi´s may be an expensive option if not sharing amongst a group. The company Viajes San Miguel offers direct transport from the Leon airport to the door of your hotel for $26 per person. You can write to them for information at info@viajessanmiguel.com .

Another airport with more frequent and cheaper flights is Mexico City International Airport (MEX) and then catch a bus to San Miguel de Allende. AeroPlus has a shuttle service to Querétaro from the airport which leaves from ‘Sala D' and takes 3 hours. When you arrive at the Querétaro bus terminal take another bus to San Miguel (1hour). Alternatively take a direct bus from terminal Norte in Mexico City. A taxi from Mexico City will cost in excess of US$200.
It is worth checking flights to Querétaro International Airport (QRO) as well, though flights are infrequent and more expensive. The Airport is about an hour from San Miguel which you can reach by bus from the Querétaro Terminal de Buses or take a taxi. Continental flies to Querétaro direct from Houston.
Buses
Buses leave Mexico City for San Miguel de Allende from the Terminal de Autobuses del Norte (North Bus Station). This station can easily be reached by taxi from the airport. Mexico City to San Miguel de Allende is about 3.5 to 4 hours.

First Class Buses also leave for Guanajuato, León, and Guadalajara at 7:30 am, 9:30 am, Noon, 5:30 pm and 7:50 pm.
Return first class bus from Guanajuato: 3 pm, 5:15 pm and 7:15 pmThe trip to Guanajuato takes 1.5 hours
