La Ceiba Travel Information
It is the third most important city in Honduras and probably the happiest. Founded under the name La Ceiba, it is nowadays outstanding for the high spirits of its carnival celebrations.
They attract throngs of people who flood every bar, having fun and enjoying the musical and cultural street performances. The celebration's climax is the parade on San Isidro Avenue.
But don't be fooled. This is not the only attraction here. Nature has been more than generous in this region, endowing it with the paradisiacal scenery on Cayo Cochinos, a real Caribbean treasure. It consists of more than a dozen unspoiled peaceful cays and islets.
Swinford Park is another place to go while staying in La Ceiba, resting location for Honduras first train from 1915. Also visit the Museum of Butterflies and Insects, go rafting in El Cangrejal River rapids and climb Pico Bonito Mountain.
