Tacuarembó Travel Information

In search of a destination to dip yourself into the Uruguayan culture´s most representative artistic expressions Then take a trip to Uruguay´s largest district: Tacuarembó. Situated to the country´s northern section, it hosts a number of mural paintings made by several Uruguayan artists, considered as one of the most remarkable features of Uruguay´s culture. Such murals are to be found in a place called San Gregorio de Polanco.
This area also counts on the resorts of "Iporá" and "Valle Edén" (Eden´s Valley). The latter treasures Carlos Gardel´s house, the renowned tango singer, which attracts many a visitor. This has also generated an endless intercultural argument, since it is common belief in Argentina that the singer was actually born in France, but on the contrary, Uruguayans firmly state that he was definitely a local.
